Job: TEACHER

Description:  Early Education and Care, Inc., a non-profit agency, is currently seeking Teachers that will be responsible for daily classroom program that fulfills the philosophy, goals and objectives of our agency’s Head Start Program. Applicant must be flexible, a self starter, possess the ability to plan and/or carry out daily lesson plans. Must also be able to work with children with special needs and families of diverse backgrounds. This is a 10 month position.

Specific Job Duties:

• Attend parent conferences and encourage parent involvement.
• Develop and post weekly lesson plans that include individual time, structured and unstructured activities providing a wide variety of experiences for each child including those in math, science, social studies, nutrition, cooking, creative music and movement, language and vocabulary development, pre-reading, cognitive skills and physical education.
• Provide on-going development of learning centers which makes available a variety of materials for exploration, a balance of familiar and challenging experiences for new learning opportunities.
• Observe children closely noting problems or difficulties such as behavior, speech language, social interaction with other children, visual, hearing, etc.  Report such problems verbally and in writing to the Center Director.

Education & Experience:  BA/BS in early childhood education or closely related field preferred.  Associate’s in ECE accepted with willingness to continue higher education. Degree must include 6 credit hours of early childhood classes.  At least one year of early education experience required.

Requirements:

• Must complete 40 hour DCF mandated training courses and successfully pass the competency examinations within 90 days of employment.
• Must also possess a minimum of one year successful classroom experience.
• Applicant must pass criminal background and urinalysis drug screenings.
• A pre-employment physical is required along with a TB screening.
